New Coal Pits at Fauldhouse. - Messrs John Nimmo & Sons, coalmasters, have commenced sinking operations in the Fauldhouse district, and two pits are being put down on the farm of Braehead. The Niddrie and Benhar Coal Company are about to re-open two pits near East Benhar.

Linlithgowshire Gazette, 2nd February 1895

A rumour has been circulated that lease of the minerals on the Braehead Estate has been secured by some prominent eoalowner, and that there is a likelihood of Braehead Pit being re-opened at any early period. Something of this nature is much required in the district as work has been very scarce for some time.
