Serving Philpstoun Oil Works

A short lived mine 1,200 m. south of Philpstoun Oil Works and linked by a mineral tramway.

Shale-field: Champfleurie, Philpstoun and Blackness shale-fields.

Mapped by the Ordnance Survey of c.1896. The red circle represents the supposed location of No. 3 Mine (on BGS plan LSP 530). It is unclear how this related to the shaft shown close to Burnside level crossing.
