Soldier Missing - Mrs Kilpatrick who resided at the Institute, Pumpherston, has secured official information that her son Hugh Kilpatrick, has been posted as missing. he is 21 years of age and was employed at the Oil Works before joining up in the Royal Air Force.

KILLED IN ACTION
Mrs J. Kilpatrick, Institute Place, Pumpherston, has received the following letter from the Air Ministry: - "I am commanded by the Air Council to inform you that they have with deep regret to confirm the telegram in which you were notified that your son Aircraftsman (first class) Hugh Kilpatrick, R.A.F., lost his life as a result of enemy action. Information has been received from released prisoners of war that your son was shot down by a Japanese sniper on 14th February, 1942. No details nor any information regarding the place of his burial are yet available. The Air Council desire to express their sincere sympathy with you in a long period of anxiety which you have suffered in your bereavement."
