The prospectus of the Leewood Main Coal, Cannel & Oil Co,Ltd states the objectives of the company as " purchasing and further developing the well-known Leeswood Main Coal Colliery, situated at Leeswood, near Mold, Flintshire, and erecting a refinery for the manufacture of Paraffin and other Oils". It might be supposed that the intention was to construct an oil works in the vicinity of Leeswood Main colliery, however there is little evidence that such construction went forward, and no sale advertisement has been located.
