The Cambrian Oil Co. is listed in the 1865 coal commission report as operating oil works at Hope. No further reference to the company have been located, so presumably it was a short-lived firm. The Cambrian Oil works, (presumably the former premises of the Cambrian Oil Co.) may have been taken over by the firm of Horner, Middleton & Co by 1867 and subsequently by Wilcocks, Piercy & Co.
There is no known association between this firm and the Flintshire Oil & Cannel Co. Ltd, who used marketed their burning oil under the "Cambrian Oil" brand.
