Index of Fatal Accident Inquiries

Fatal Accident Inquiries have been held since 1895 and are conducted in local sheriff courts. The records, which normally include notes of evidence, petition and warrant, minutes and verdicts and a list of jurors, are held by the National Archives of Scotland who note that not all Fatal Accident Inquiry records have survived and that there are notable gaps for many sheriff courts. As a result, it should be noted that the accidents listed here are not a comprehensive list of fatal accidents that occurred in the Scottish shale oil industry.
