The Scottish Oil Agency Ltd were created as the distributing and selling organisation of Scottish Oils Ltd and acted as distributors in Scotland for the Anglo Persian Oil Company Ltd. In addition the company absorbed the business in Scotland of the British Petroleum Company Ltd and the Homeliight Oil Company Ltd. This arrangement enabled The Agency to supply not only the various products derived from shale, but also other well known brands of petroleum including White May, Rocklight, PVO (Petroleum Vapourising Oil) and BP Motor Spirit.

The Agency had a wide and varied customer base which included contracts with the following organisations: The Admiralty, War Office, Ministry of Munitions, Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, Crown Agents for the Colonies, Trinity House, Scottish and Irish Lighthouse Boards, Railway Companies and Corporations.

In an agreement dated 13th October 1932 the Scottish Oil Agency Ltd was sold to Shell-Mex & BP Ltd.
