Background

A short-lived mine linked to Forkneuk No. 1 Pit and Forkneuk No. 9 & 10 Pits, exploiting the north west corner of the shale-field. Linked to Uphall Oil Works by a standard gauge mineral railway.

Concrete plinths with foundation bolts probably mark the site of a winding house, the location of two adits are marked by areas of subsidence, and the waste bing remains clearly defined. Close by, the landowner appears to be actively filling in areas of subsidence related to stoop and room working.
